Although the Newshour has exceptional journalists working for it, the content is severely lacking. Last night, for example, there was a segment on the Farmers' rebellion in India. BBC World News typically covers things like that. Certainly, a lot of Americans are of Indian extraction and they would be interested in a story like that, but, overall shouldn't the Newshour focus on American news, or topics like climate change, that impact all the world.
Instead of a story on Indian farmers, why not do a story on what's happening among AMERICAN Indians, like the Anishinaabe in northern Minnesota? They are in the middle of a David vs. Goliath fight to stop Enbright from building Line 3 right through their lakes --the only place where wild rice is still grown in the U.S.-- and the headwaters of the Mississippi River. That is much more NEWSWORTHY story than the one about Indian farmers!! Hundreds of protesters are braving frigid weather to stop that pipeline. A lot is going on in Minnesota right now, but "public" t.v. chooses to ignore it. Honestly, when Al Jazeera was on, it did a better job of covering news in all corners of this country.. They didn't spend half their time talking to boring experts who dissect what's going on. More news, and less talking heads!!!
