Absolutely fabulous. I loved the friendship between the two main characters, Seo Hwi and Nam Seon Ho. I loved the build up of the trust and loyalty they had for one another. The friendships with the other characters in Hwi’s band of brothers was so sweet and endearing. Their trust and faith in him as their leader was heartwarming. Seon Ho was alone so often and you could see the pain of that. I was amazed by the performances of Yang Se-jong, Woo Do-hwan, and Jang hyuk. As Hwi, Seon-ho and Bang-won. It also showcased the struggles fathers and sons have with each other as they navigate life, and question how much a father owes a son and how much a son owes his father. The costumes were amazing, loved the colors, the cinematography, directing, locations, storyline were amazing. It took my breath away. If I have one complaint, it was that I really didn’t see much of a love story between Hwi and Hui Jae. The ost was wonderful. I loved several of the songs and have downloaded them. They do help to showcase the action we are watching. The ending was a surprise to me, I had no idea what to expect. I honestly have to say I sobbed, had big ugly crying going on that went on during the finale and continued off and on for the next 5 hours every time I thought of the ending. I’ve teared up several times today as well (having just finished watching it last night,) I highly recommend this for history buffs. As stated elsewhere, some characters are historical and others are fabricated and woven in to historical events. This is my first K-drama and apparently it hasn’t gotten the recognition it deserves which I why I’ve written. Please give this well made series a chance. (FYI: During the duration of the show I wondered why it only had 1 season, then I got to the end and knew why. Lol)
