The Flash. It's crazy to think this was once one of my favorite shows. There was so much to look forward to in the Flash. However as the old saying goes: all that is good must come to an end. For me, the best season of the show was season 1. It had everything: good writing, good acting, good main villain (actually, great main villain), good storyline, good drama, good characters and good flash origins. in my eyes, there is no other season on the show that had/has or will most likely ever out do season 1. Now, don't get the wrong idea, the Flash was never a golden show, was always campy and comedic, but in season 1, that campiness was part of, coupled with the above listed qualities, the things that made that season enjoyable. from season two onwards, it felt like a complete copy and paste type of situation. Yeah, I'll give the show props for the introduction to the multiverse in season 2, but it just felt like a way to 1. bring in another Wells, 2. since Reverse Flash was gone, so bring in a new speedster for Barry to beat. However, touching on that, Zoom also had a terrifying demeanor to him that I think was the one and only best feature to him. Season 3, when Savitar came onto the scene, he was introduced as the God of Speed. so now, I was thinking "so, season 1 ends with Barry unofficially being the fastest man in any time period, season 2 ends with Barry being the fastest man on both earths so by the end of this season, Barry will be even faster than the God of Speed himself, like I didn't see that coming". Now, I was really done with the speedsters in this show by season 3 because it seemed like everyone jus becoming one. when season 3 ended, I loved the ending for one reason and one reason only: Barry throughout season 3 has made it clear that he knows that everything that happened, every meta locked away, every death the team faced, every injury they received was his fault and his alone. he tried to make amends for his actions throughout the season and went to extreme measures to do so. So, when the speed force asked him to enter the speed force prison to replace Savitar and Barry willing went in with no quarrel what-so-ever, this for me should have been the end on the show, Barry was willing to give up his wife, his family, his friends, everything he had to enter the speed force forever to save a city and possibly the world from speed force that was growing unstable. He gave up everything he held dear to him to save thousands and thousands of people he didn't even know and best part is, he knew all that was happening was his fault but instead of running, he chose to stand his ground and accept his punishment. Barry was always a caring and selfless person from day one (which we clearly see) this final act of heroism was to me, the best and should have ended the show with season 3. When season 4 came out, I didn't even watch till the mid season final. I gave them props for having the main villain of the show hot being a speedster, but to me, I just felt like it was too late at that point of the show. Season 3 kind of already felt like a bit of drag to get through for me, but it was also the last straw for me towards the show, from season 4 episode 1, I already knew I was not going to make it towards the end of half of the season.
