***post binge (all 8 episodes in one day) review alert ***
When you finish a series and you start re-watching it from episode 1, You know you have had an amazing time and it is so good that it is worth of an instant rewatch binge. Although it is defined as a historical fiction, I must alert you that you will be badly disheartened if you are a strict fan of the genre.
I think the genre of this amazing series can not be tagged as only a historical fiction. I am still at awe with the types of themes I got to watch merely in 8 episodes. Bridgerton explores the themes of historical fiction, scandalous family drama, fiery romance laced with mystery. It is an epic romance story, a compelling mystery thriller, a montage of how women were perceived vs men, a visual fest of grandeur. Most important of all it will make you think about what diversity truly is & you will get to see how the world could have been and needs to be.
My eyes were glued to the screen throughout the all 8 episodes and I was not bored for a single minute. The screenplay has been beautifully written to merge so many compelling themes.
The cast were absolutely brilliant. I could not asked for a better cast to pull this off. I particularly admire the race agnostic casting.
Last thing that I would like to mention is the Music. While the string quartet renditions of pop tracks are amusing incorporation, my heart went out to Max Richter’s masterful recomposition of Antonio Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” in episode 6. This track made me feel love. I bet you have to instantly see the post waltz in rain scene because of the music and fiery on screen chemistry of the two leading cast.
Kudos to the brilliant team for doing such an amazing job.
