Looking at the trailer I wasn’t particularly interested in the movie. It looked just like another CGI film. That was just down to the clunky, thumpy nature of the trailer. I found it didn’t do it justice. The characters are fresh, the story feels familiar but this was a story I had never heard before, and film being about the search for an identity, a memory lost, just made me resonate with sympathy for the character more as we were discovering more about her at the same time she was. Aka This is the best anime remake that I have ever seen. And the thought that the entire character of Alita is animated like (Gollum was for the Lord of the Rings) but 100% more beautiful, just blows my breath away. This is my movie treasure of 2019. I can’t wait for DVD release.
