I had been looking forward to watching this since I first saw sight of the previews. Unfortunately the previews are yet again the best bits of the film. So, best bits of the film… it’s over in 2 hours, and the music at the end of the film. Not so good bits, unbelievable way the girls are “possessed “ no back story of either of the girls dabbling with ouji boards, contacting people from the other side, yet they manage because they are in the woods to be able to summon a demon so powerful it possesses both girls…. really. So once found we go through the investigation, with poor manifestations of possible “possession” and very quickly here she is the mother of Regan… here to help, because she did such a good job of protecting Regan in the Exorcist. We have one of the young girls scratching Regans name into a window frame…. Terrifying (not) Then it’s time to get this demon out of the girls, by what can only be described as a band of people, not really knowing what they are doing… but hey let’s give it a go anyway. We get the standard, cross, water, murmurs of the Lord’s Prayer, and the demon writhing…nothing we have not seen in any other exorcist film. I won’t give the end away, but in my opinion it could have been done a lot better, and focus on the young girl who is dragged to hell.
I really had high hopes for this, but I guess with all the horror films around now, the shock value has been watered down so much that it takes something very special to supply a scare. Unfortunately Exorcist believer fails to deliver on so many fronts. Do yourself a favour and save your money, and wait for it to be released on a streaming platform.
