GOAT – I went in with low expectations, especially after the hype and subsequent letdown of Leo. Vijay's portrayal of a negative-shade character was the only redeeming quality of the movie; beyond that, it felt like a major disappointment. Since Bigil, none of his films have truly satisfied me. What baffles me is how directors who have a proven track record – like Nelson, Lokesh, and VP – seem to falter when directing Vijay. These filmmakers have delivered great movies, yet when it comes to Vijay, they appear to miss the mark.
It raises the question: Are directors altering their stories to fit a mass-market formula, hoping to capitalize on Vijay's stardom? Or is Vijay himself influencing the changes to cater to his image? Almost every acclaimed director struggles to get the best out of him. Even though Atlee might not be a master filmmaker, he still brings something to the table. The only director who consistently tapped into Vijay's potential was Murugadoss. Here's hoping his farewell film is a fitting and memorable one.
