Meh gameplay like all of ps2 era Mks but stacked roster and modes had a lot fun with it when younger. But vastly overrated by a lot in hindsight

Nostalgia bias aside is a good game, campaign is sub par and combat can be janky but once you learn how to move out way and swing the weapons properly is satisfying and you'll be able to take on 4/5 zombies without taking a hit. Think combat and crafting are it's strong point and the multiple side quest can keep you busy, Map design is great to the resort and City especially. Good game if willing to give it time but not without it flaws. Best in the Franchise imo.
