Horrible, soul-less adaptation that would have Garcia Marquez turning in his grave. Precisely what he probably had in mind when he opposed adaptation after adaptation. So much incredible Latin American talent around, yet the acting and direction is mediocre and bland. I so wanted to like this, but I'm reading the book again just to clean the palate.

Meh. Largely lets the book (which is fabulous) down. Characters are bland and unrelatable. Story is full of shortcuts. Key elements left out leaving the story disconnected and weak.
