Mr. Parker researched this event more thoroughly than other author. He spent 25 years gaining the trust of a very closed community in Bath as they recoiled from the constant stream of gawkers (numbering in the thousands) who caused traffic jams back into Lansing as they drove through the town in the days after the explosion, (Imagine this much traffic in 1927 in rural Michigan).
