Hated it. I’ll give respect to Gibson for coining the term cyberspace, and the unique concept of the book. I admit, being able to see through the point of vue of someone else is a cool concept. So if you want to read the book in terms of sci-fi technology - that hasn’t aged too much considering its age - go ahead, be my guest, just don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Despite taking my time to try to understand everything that happens, it is simply impossible. If you manage to comprehend it all, then maybe this is a good book, but for any casual fiction reader, its overly fast pacing, followed by nothingness, I give for a truly horrible read. Gibson can mention one thing, then move onto a different concept, before elaborating on the first without warning, at an unnecessary time in the story.
I know William Gibson is supposed to be one of the best sci-fi authors of all time, but I’m not even sure if he can qualify as a good author in itself.
Maybe on a re-read, or more likely a rewrite, I would like this book. But I’ve already suffered through that hell once, and I appreciate my time.
