Honestly very disappointed :(
The ocean affects was dark and deep as if it's a horror movie and compared the the new avatar movie with vibrant colors and lighter tone of water that still empathized depth, it was a huge disappointment.
I am NOT racist, btw, but I don't think Halle Bailey suited little mermaid because she doesn't look like Ariel at all and she doesn't have the slightest vibe/mood of how we imagine her. She isn't that pretty too, with her eyes distance very far away, and the time she was spying(?) at prince Eric behind the rock, I was honestly VERY creeped out. It looked like she was plotting murder or something and failed. Speaking of prince Eric, the chemistry between her and the prince is just WRONG. I tried so hard to reimagine them and brainwash myself to think they love each other, but their amazing acting did not cover the fact that they just don't belong. It also was unrealistic because black people didn't have much power back than and the fact that the island of prince Eric was living had multi race and the queen was black. It just wasn't what the past looked like. It also didn't make sense all of Ariel's sister has different race when king Triton was white and unless he had many wives or even worse, the sisters were basters, there is not way to explain this. Or maybe they were just adopted. Anyways the whole movie didn't make sense, and to add to it, why did the lobster change to crab and the "supposed-to-be-cute-yellow-fish" turn to a hideous silver fish that looked like it's from a sushi store? Flounder was so cute and now you ruined him! :( The whole movie is so different from the OG and, when you first think of Ariel, you imagine her bright red hair, her pale flawless skin (also how is her skin dark when she lives so dark in the deep of the ocean due to the horrible CG affect of the movie?), her ocean like eyes, and her dreamy and bubbly personality. Halley Bailey is a good singer, but she wasn't the best Ariel they could've find. They could have done better. I did enjoy some of the music but they were not as good as the original... :(
Over all, I wouldn't be as disappointed in the movie if the original wasn't so perfect, but it is still one of the worst live action movie I've every seen. I wouldn't recommend but you could give it a try. Don't expect too much from it, everything about the film wasn't as good.
