So many bot reviews...It was actually really solid! I'd probably give it like 7/10? Phillipa Boyen and her daughter and Peter Jackson are all involved and Miranda Otto narrates and Weta actually did concept design?! Also Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan voiced characters. It feels really really weird watching LOTR in anime, but I got over that by about 20 minutes in. The plot is sourced from the appendices and is pretty faithful, it just fleshes out Helm's daughter and gives her a name and elaborates on what was written enough to make a movie out of it, but what WAS written did make it into the movie as far as the origins of Helm's Deep and the essentials of the plot. It uses the original music and there are Easter eggs of like, lines from the original movies being borrowed or Theoden's armor being Helm's armor passed down over the generations and playing a critical role in the movie.
