Not a good idea to defend your ratings drop with “Well, younger people like us.” What it means is that you’ve alienated your most faithful, hardcore, and long running audience. There are times over the past few series when it seems that the creators don’t actually care about Dr Who so just throw everything but the kitchen sink at it. Much of the writing in the Whittaker series was execrable, from the first episode on. As for the show’s PC issues, I am PC myself but there are times when a script has been entirely predictable according to how “correct” the character is. That’s what makes for bad writing that only the like-minded will accept.
