The Comey Rule is a stark example of the fall of American media and entertainment into the sewer of partisan politics. This film tacitly insinuates itself as an historical reference, when it is overtly and crudely biased towards a progressive, left-leaning point of view and demonizes its political opposition on the political right.
It also soft-pedals the abuse of power by an overwhelming majority of FBI officials. It obscures the abject failures of Comey's past prosecutions that were ostensibly persecutions of innocent individuals. Comey's well-documented and sleazy tactics of making false, or at best unsubstantiated accusations against defendants (bolstered by leaking details to a willing press) are completely ignored. Comey's lust for power has destroyed many innocent people's lives. This would have been an appropriate frame of reference since it is exactly why he was forced to resign in disgrace.
Comey's culpability in perpetuating the Russia Collusion fabrications and covering-up Hillary Clinton's abuses are clumsily stitched into a perverse fabric virtue. Characters portraying: Comey, Strzok, McCabe, Clapper, Lynch et.al are deeply flawed public servants who acted with purpose, malice and knowledge of their misdeeds; yet, they are treated as virtuous servants who simply made mistakes in judgement.
Comey's entrapment of General Michael Flynn was treated as a masterful maneuver as opposed to a hyper-partisan, Machiavellian attack on Republicans and the Trump Administration. A close inspection of the Flynn case reveals a disgraceful political persecution of an American hero.
The Comey Rule paints every Republic character as evil, worthy of destruction, social ostracization, bankrupting and incarceration. This is an ultra-liberal, progressive propaganda trope that rationalizes weaponizing law enforcement for political persecution.
The issue is not the idea of whether conservatives or Republicans are not without bad actors. Bad actors in our government are likely equally balanced between the political parties, but The Comey Rule would have you believe that the American Republic is a battle between good and evil with James Comey as the divine warrior and Archangel Michael. When in fact Comey is likely the one character who had most betrayed the trust of the American people.
This film will be seen through the lens of history as one of the most crude propaganda films of all-time. One would have to suspend logic, facts and outright deception to embrace this propaganda film as an historical record.
