Firstly, I greatly enjoy Flannigan's work because of how poetic and deep it always manages to be. My favorites by far are hill house and ofc midnight mass. The story is great and I think it is purely a reminder of the malleability of human nature and the reliance on miracles and something which can take us away from discomfort. I also really appreciate the depiction of Islam which is often greatly distorted by mainstream media. Flannigan got the central ideas right and didn't instantly take to presenting Hassan and Ali in a negative light or otherwise greatly overbearing. I also really liked Riley's character and Erin's as well because of how they were coming to terms with their own spirituality and personal struggles. Riley's act of selflessness showed a great parallel between his old and new self and how he refused to let a contagion similar to his alcoholism barricade his path to goodness. Monsignor Pruitt was also exceptional in his role, keenly representing the rise, fall and rise of goodness. The cinematography was as always amazing, that's another great thing about Flannigan is that he's more of a show not tell kind of guy. Overall, 10/10.
