For those scoring it 1 star and specifically talking about this movie being only about Cruise as a possible vanity project and focusing every shot on him, in fairness that's every Mission Impossible, even the first one.
Cruise is by far the biggest Hollywood star! Unlike Vin Diesel where the franchise should have been buried 10yrs ago and it's just turning into a Vin Diesel vanity project, Cruise until Dead Reckoning has kept this project going till almost the very end.
I watched the movie 5 weeks after it's release and the cinema was still full, that tells you everything!
Now I can guarantee you one thing, there is probably a couple of hours of film that's been cut to create this version we have seen.
Some scenes were rushed, like helping the blonde girl escape prison, there was not enough story behind the 'how' for me which caused some dislike towards the final version.
But remember, this movie is the sum of every MI movie before it, it's not a standalone film.
If it was standalone, it would be 3% on rotten tomatoes as well.
As a completion of the franchise, it is a fitting end and shows their commitment to their roles continues, the only end for Ethan Hunt is death, and that's not for now...
I do hope they don't revive the franchise any time soon, give it 30yrs before the studio decides to kick it off again, but something tells me there will be a spin off, Hollywood can't help it.
Finally - or at least my final Reckoning lol - for those who have watched the MI movies up to now and have not been, it's definitely worth watching at the cinema, for that reason 5 stars all day.
From a plot perspective, the final edit has hampered the movie.
From a realistic perspective, it's as barmy as any Marvel movie since Marvel existed lol
The movie was emotional, and really intense start to finish! There is no scene which makes you think time to leave the cinema, or it's boring. These MI movies have always been grippy and intense, this one is no different...
Anyways enjoy the last of TC in a huge franchise, I think any future movies of his now will be smaller time, he's getting on a bit
