I’m gutted. The setting was gorgeous, the casting was spot-on — you could really see the potential for something special. But the writing? Absolutely awful. Instead of smart twists and sharp humour, we got a flat, one-dimensional story where everything just happened conveniently.
Worse still, they changed characters in ways that drained them of what made them so compelling. The heart, wit, and warmth that Richard Osman gave these people was completely missing on screen. Crucial plot changes rendered this a shallow, generic mystery instead of the brilliant, character-driven story it should have been.
Such a wasted opportunity.
