Sea Beast begins with a colourful world, colourful cast of characters and an interesting alternate take on pirates and whalers, except in this case, monsters are the hunt and a life as a hunter is the prize. First timers to this type of film will find a lot to appreciate with the story's likable lead characters and time well spent world building. However, the plot is terribly cliche. Put simply, this story has been told countless times in movie and episodic mediums and it feels tired. No spoilers of course but I found myself predicting practically every beat after the story made its way to act 2. It's far from original in its main plot but still holds up as an entertaining piece for the young.
