Brilliantly combines the events of the 1978 original with the 'current' events of the 2018 film (This film takes place immediately after that film finished).
Re-introduces a few of the characters from 1978, including the now middle-aged children to great effect.
This is clearly a metaphor of Trump and the 2021 storming of the Capitol building in DC, so is playing to a younger modern audience with it's message, without disappointing those of the older generations who are more in touch with the original and it's simple horror movie status.
Kill scenes are gruesome, as expected, seemingly CGI free and numerous but not without context. JLC is far more of a token character in this, however. So if you are expecting leading-lady status, it's not happening.
Well worth seeing.
