Great cast. Great music. Tim Burton directing. Dark and exquisitely funny.

I quite enjoyed the first two seasons of the show, even with its various eccentricities. The third season, however, gradually descended into an annoying, confused mess. Nothing more to say. Skip it. (The third season, that is.)

Boring! Struggled through five and a half episodes. Not one character i could give a damn about. Is someone going to be murdered eventually? Why would I care? Too much time travel. Not enough story. Not funny. Not thrilling. Couldn't bring myself to waste another minute watching.

It is an overrated, preachy, blinkered hotchpotch of platitudes. It appears intended as a set of instructions on how to be some quaint middle-class notion of a good person, including the injunction to "be yourself" – anyone else see the contradiction here? It was written in the years between WW1 and WW2, and yet it tells us that "the universe is unfolding as it should" and that the world is beautiful. Seriously?

I enjoyed this movie. I thought it successfully reflected the mood and style of the original 1973 Exorcist while telling quite a different story. It is so widely underappreciated that I wonder if it is a bit inaccessible to some. Perhaps not for everyone then.

I had no idea what to expect from this movie. House of Darkness was a pleasant surprise. Not your typical horror, and maybe not for everyone...
