Finally—Star Wars that feels like Star Wars. The reviews of those viewers a bit lost, I’d recommend watching the key episodes of Ashoka on D+ as they have it categorized for Clone Wars, Rebels, and Mando. This show was cinematic, great acting, great action, and the lulls set up the bigger moments (George Lucas-esque). Sabine rumors of being force sensitive were false—she’s being called a padawan but they’re using that loosely as the droid confirmed she is not force sensitive—and I love this, personally. Only thing I didn’t care for was the stomach stab, but listen: this show was for Star Wars fandom and not the casual viewer. Casual viewership has ruined the cultural phenomenon that is Star Wars—not because everyone shouldn’t be invited, but because the focus has been instead on mass appeal as a quantity play by numbers rather than quality, and those aren’t who come back.
Fan service without being fan service. But nice to see a fresh opening crawl and hear an amazing score, while all finally feeling like Star Wars. Kudos, Dave!
