Thought the movie was really funny, cringe, predictable, and pretty forgettable. I don't know why people are mad for expecting something from this movie that it never really promised.
Thoroughly enjoyed the maybe one minute total that the fairy godmother was on screen.
There really isn't anything on the line throughout the movie, it isn't deep, and from the beginning it's clear that the movie is somewhat unserious and satirical. It has a nice message about personal growth through trial, and finding love and friendship through shared hardships - very standard and safe family movie territory, and unless you yourself make it about a certain issue, children will not make these associations on their own. Just be a good role model in daily life and your kids should be fine.
Kids liked it, adults laughed at the jokes and directing decisions.
Wrote this positive review because clearly some people have lost their whimsy and it was well before they watched this movie, that's for sure :)
