The series has veered irreconcilably from the novel, and, frankly, the course it takes is disappointing. While several episodes are effective, particularly those revolving around the rise of the deadly pandemic, those in Frank’s apartment, the early days at Severn City airport, and the relationships among Miranda, Arthur & Clark, the overall narrative lacks cohesion, dramatic intensity and in some places, simple logic. I’ll watch the last episode, but I think I’ll pick the novel up again to remind myself of what the series could have been.
