Empire Falls not only a metaphor but the backdrop of the show. With a star cast and HBO's backing it stands in the face of Globalisation and post-industrial familial values. Empire falls is a small town in the east coast(Maine) of the US. The show depicts the empirical patriotism associated with places with undermined talent or an identification thereof . The lead of the show is one of the few in town who attended but couldn't make it out of there and is often 'haunted' for lack of a better word by his decision to not complete his last semester. The story has a beautiful depiction of nostalgia of both the town(Larry Pine's Narration) and the lead, as if they're both one and the same. Ed Harris brings his best to the screen the "Russianesque" in the form of Miles Roby(the lead). Helen Hunt is playing Janine Roby (Miles's estranged soon wife to be ex-wife perhaps). Also we witnessed the Newmann couple accompanied by a pantheon of actorship. In all its a good display of the interplay of responsibility, love and failure.
