First of all, I got a lot of 'After' vibes from it, even the lead actress looks like the lead actress in After - except this one, the one one in Culpa mia, is just a very terrible actress and very painful to watch. Her reaction to seeing photos of her boyfriend and best friend kissing was cringe worthy. And why did she feel the need to yell at Nick every single time - at the beginning when they had just met? Like I don't like Nick, but men, that doesn't mean that he deserved the yelling at the beginning when they had just met. Smart people just ignore or observe from afar and keep their distance if they don't want to interact with someone.
The writing was also terrible and left a lot of questions unanswered - e.g. how did Noah and Nick went from hating each other and basically speaking in yells to falling in love, no bonding moments between Noah and her step dad, Jenna just instantly becoming besties with Noah, plus I think they planned to write Noah as sassy but all they managed was a rude girl with zero acting skills. Look, she is pretty but just not a good actress. Something else, a 22 year old becoming physically intimate with a 17 year old? Isn't that statutory r*p*?
After was a terrible movie and both Hardin and the girl were toxic people, but after watching Culpa Mia, I appreciated After a little more cause at least the first one in its sequel was well-written before it became all about Hardin and the girlfriend yelling at each other and becoming physically intimate and the lead actress there is actually a good actress - at least in the first one.
I will conclude with, if you are into toxic relationships in movies, then watch Culpa mia, otherwise use your precious time on something healthy like hugging trees and walking barefoot in grass or bake something.
