I have watched the series after Hansal Mehta remarks but I'm very disappointed in him. I don't know why he did if their was any specific reason to do it.
Topic is excellent and should have more series on this.
Storyline is very poor, from the title I was under the impression that story would revolve on adolescent kids and their mindset these days however I was expecting too much from the makers.
Episode 1: In first episode too much time taken by police and their so called formalities. It seems director wanted to show the world how good is UK regional police was. Instead of showing Jamie more like what his mindset in the jail cell instead they are showing police formalities and how they processed these kind cases.
Episode 2: This episode was on right track showing how kids behave these days but again police conversation is way more than kids and horrible part was teacher Mr. Malik's role. From the looks of it, it seems that UK people are now becoming biased towards Indian people
because that was unnecessary to show that only tutor Malik got late in the classroom and very unfriendly demeanour towards kids. In the end Ryan did very good acting and showing how a 13 year old child would be disturbed due to this murder and how nervous he was in front of police.
Episode 3: In this episode proper time was given to Jamie and his mental health which was very fantastic however again director wanted to show us a different topic like how psychologist was harrassed by Camera monitoring officer, he was literally hitting on her which was very irrelevant in the episode. It was like director wanted to convey us many things.
Episode 4: It was very touching episode and gave us glimpse how parents blame themselves for not giving much time to their children however if you look at the episode 2 you can understand how much a parent can do? The students which are bullying others will not talk about this to their parents in fact teachers were also bullied in that school, whom they should go to, lol.
Another major concerning thing was no screen time was given to Katie(victim) or her family even Katie's best friend doesn't want to go to her house.
Also, one more thing I found weird that series put too much emphasis on the father's care towards there kids like father's are not caring enough e.g. D.I Boscombe admitted that he is not giving enough time to Adam. It's looks like parenting is not cup of their tea. Mother's part was literally non-existent in this series however in our day to day life like dad, mother's are also super women.
All in all too much time is diverted to other topics like Police department of the area, women harrasment, system efficiency in coping this but not on the kids.
