I would realistically rate it 6/10 as in watchable, fair portrayal of some characters, and has some nostalgia from the anime.
The issues that other people have covered better than I ever could are:
- Watered down plot
I can agree there wasn't really a focus other than trying to be entertaining. The direction they took is throw it at the wall and see what sticks. I cant see future seasons being better and if people want to rate this 5 stars then were unlikely to get anything better enjoy it for what it is. The cast did good with what they had but im not sure I agree with certain things about them. Saka fits the role but feels watered down somehow. Azula feels more spoiled than conniving idk if that's just me.
- too much cgi (get with the times guys)
CGI is getting cheaper and its just going to get more and more mainstream. There are certain fights that stick out more than others, they could really break the mold but its pretty safe stuff that I see nothing too impressive.
- The biggest issue I think is that with the lukewarm season that it is I doubt that there is incentive to do better and if this is going to be the standard of whats to come it might as well be dead on arrival. Sure its better than FMA Live action but the bar isnt that high. What is your favorite anime live action? Is this better than that? not for me.
Nice try Netflix dont do what you did to Witcher and ill keep watching.
To the people who havent watched the anime but watch this then want to review. Watch the anime its really good <3
