I once studied an excerpt from this novel with my English as a foreign language grade 12 class. They were so hooked on it they begged to study the entire thing, to find out whether or not the founder of the bureau manages to escape his own henchman who is paid to assassinate him. As the entire thing would have been too complex for them, I read it and summarized it for them. We studied certain keys passages.To this day, 33 years later, the memory of that semester remains one of my greatest teaching joys... we had such a good time! The kids even had a bet going about the ending, which has a plot twist nobody expected. Wonderful, I highly recommend it.
