The narrative is disconcertingly disjointed, hopping about willy nilly through time and places. Doerr loves series of phrases and uses them, usually in threes, predictably and too frequently. A large part of the narrative takes place in Alaska and I can tell you, from firsthand experience, that almost nothing about that portion rings true, or even possible. After reading All the Light…, I was expecting so much more, but was very disappointed.
