The trouble with this series.. is just about everything.
The concept itself is flawed; a bomb disposal team.. based solely in London. Every episode is doomed to be pretty much the same; find bomb, tell everyone not to panic, panic, cut wire, bomb safe... or for variety, big bang. No matter how you stage it... same story.
Then there are the characters. There's Vicky McLure and... some other people. Nothing wrong with having a few 'OK' actors, but you need more than one better than that. Which they had - until they killed off Adrian Lester at the start. Maybe he read the scripts...
The biggest problem is the demented plots. I have just watched Episode 1 of Series 2. Some sort of electrical station is on fire - hard to tell what as it looks like a bonfire of a small pile of junk. Anyway - the plot is they need to get the fire engines into the site, and the 'only' way in is booby-trapped. OK... let's just go with that for a moment....
Our heroine says she needs to get inside... can they cut a hole in the fence? 'No problem'. And duly cut through the bit of chicken-wire concerned. At which point comes the problem.... WHY NOT CUT A BIGGER HOLE AND DRIVE THE FIRE ENGINES THROUGH IT!!!!
Sadly, as other reviews have noted, the stunning stupidity of some of the plots and sub-plots, together with the lack of character development and dreadful direction, means they will never get the go-ahead to make a second series. Except... they have. I suppose if you can make an hours telly mainly by having two people, only one of which is a really competent actor, somewhere dark chatting meaninglessly for a bit before they cut a wire, the accountants are happy...
