Haven't heard the remaster, but the original
album managed to remain intimate even when recorded live at a club (Roseland Ballroom, NYC) with an orchestral accompaniment, all carried out under the all-seeing eye of the video camera.
While one might think the apparent fragility
of their music could be problematic, the video
of the event shows a group fully in control of
their sound, seemingly even drawing the orchestra into their creative bubble. The songs
included standout tracks from their first two
albums (this was before the release of "Third")
and represent the trip-hop scene in all its fleeting glory. Highly recommended.
