It’s a 3/3.5 for me, I loved the premise of the show and the acting was amazing. But some things just pissed me off.
I mean I would still recommend, because it still has a great story, plus a few plot holes and I haven’t read the book so I don’t know if it sticks to the material or even how good it is, so I’m not being biased to the original novel.
*Spoilers*
For one, why was this journalist just allowed to walk round crime scenes and talk to witnesses, it’s not like she’s a police journalist, because that is a thing that exists, but no, she literally works for a news company. Also, why did she have sex with Leo, Ema has no idea if he was involved and after knowing him for 2 secs she decides to sleep with him, like is she dumb, she has no survival instinct, like when she goes to the hotel, she doesn’t put the lock on the door. That’s kinda nitpicking but you think if she’s investigating criminals she would be more careful. If anything, the journalist should be charged with a crime, because the stuff she puts out on her website caused people’s deaths like Facundo Costa (Camila, the dad of the girl who was r*ped by the guy in the park) “killed” Leo, because of what she said. I mean it’s so idiotic of her to put the video out there, like come on, did she not think that people would try and take revenge, even it’s justified, there is meant to be due process, but she allowed vigilantes to kill someone who was literally innocent. So not only did she ruin Leo’s life, she ruined Facundo’s life, she indirectly killed Martina and the one person who should’ve been arrested, killed himself, because of the same thing. Leo gets “killed” because she put the video online and now again, she does a livestream, which could be excused because her life was in danger, but come on. At the end she literally took no responsibility and learnt nothing. She couldn’t even forgive the woman who killed her husband even though it was an accident and she was drunk, which doesn’t excuse it, but you would think that it would change Ema’s perspective but no. You would think that the woman who had glass shards into her face wouldn’t forgive Leo for what he did and even Marcos forgave Leo for leaving, so why couldn’t she. There was no character growth. Unforgiving at the start, unforgiving at the end. Leo and Martina were my favourite characters and their acting was amazing but they both got screwed because of Ema’s actions and she faces no consequences.
