My issue with this movie is because it was released after Shrek 2 came out three years ago, and I mean, Shrek 2 was of course, the best sequel I've ever saw. Everything on the second movie was amazing: The jokes are actually funny, new interestings characters as Puss in boots, amazing soundtrack, Fairy Godmother being the main antagonist and singing I need a Hero song was totally awesome!! I remember as yesterday when I watched all commercials about this movie on TV, I remember commercials from cookies, toys even McDonalds selling baby ogres dolls from Shrek 3, man I was really really hyped about Shrek the Third, because if Shrek 2 was already a masterpiece from early 2000s I was hoping Shrek the Third another masterpiece like the two first Shrek's is, and when I finally got a DVD from this movie, I jumped from joy and I ran at the living room to watch with my mother, we were super excited back then and when we finally ended it, all my excitment pre-movie evaporated and both of us ended disappointed a lot. Shrek the Third as a third sequel after Shrek 1 and 2 is a completely joke, and as an unfunny joke because honestly, except the princesses' part and the Shrek and Fiona having their three cute babies ogres ending, I can't remember any scene where I actually laughed or any character I liked it. Arthur was annoying, The Charming Prince as main antagonist was weak and didn't have even half charisma as Fairy Godmother, Donkey and Puss n boots wasn't funny anymore here, many characters with wasted potential, weak jokes that couldn't work even for adults and lack of amazing soundtrack.
In Shrek 1, I can remember All Star and I'm a Believer by Smash Mouth, I'm On My Way by The Proclaimers, Bad Reputation by Halfcocked and Hallelujah by Rufus Wainwright.
In Shrek 2, Accidentally in love by Counting Crows, Funkytown by Lipps Inc, I Need Some Sleep by Eels, Ever Fallen in Love by Pete Yorn, Changes by Butterfly Boucher & David Bowie, Holding Out for a Hero by Frou Frou, Little Drop of Poison, Holding Out for a Hero by Jennifer Saunders version, Livin' la Vida Loca by Eddie Murphy & Antonio Banderas.
Now, Shrek the Third, I can only remember Live and Let Die and more nothing.
What is a pity because this movie itself is a wasted potential, I really hoped being too amazing as the two first Shrek's but in the end, it was just an unfunny joke in sequel' form that till' today, I still act as Shrek really ended since the second movie.
