Shallow plot. No character development or relatable human elements. Shouldn’t be considered a historical dramatization. Complete distortion. Within these types of shows you want to feel the atmosphere of the time period like the early seasons of Vikings... the specific perspective and to make an even remotely reasonable connection to the unique and fascinating cultures that are a part of each of us in some capacity. It is nothing short of deceit to steal the aura of the true Danes to market a fantasy. If the producers had any integrity they would create a separate entity. Some just want to escape into meaningless entertainment but most humans still love story... not see through veils to mediocre post modern actors and politics surrounded by all the cameras and millions of dollars of production. I’m a “minority.” I don’t want to see a Japanese guy play George Washington just as much as Genghis khan shouldn’t be played by an European. All the technology, cgi, money in the world does not matter if there isn’t a foundation of good writing. Following the last season of Vikings this is hardly surprising. 89% rating by “professional” critics. Pure illusion. Hollywood is a cesspool of corruption and sell outs. Cinema is lost if this is the future. Many older movies display the human experience in profound ways and leave you with things to contemplate. This makes you feel like you just threw away precious hours of your life for nought.
