As a retired lawyer, I was really keen to see whether the courtroom aspects were accurately portrayed. No courtroom scenes this time, but:
1. I did not practice in Toronto, but I believe Old City Hall is the Ontario Court of Justice only. No robes.
2. Lawyers are not supposed to walk around in public in their robes. There was an extra shown wearing robes outside of Old City Hall.
3. Crown attorneys are “assistant crown attorneys”, not “deputy crown attorneys”.
These are trivial points that no one but a lawyer would even know or care about, but this show is an opportunity to educate the public that law in Canada is administered differently from the U.S., and it wouldn’t have taken too much work to ensure accuracy respecting the above.
