Loved it.
Seeing The Wizard of Oz at The Sphere is like watching a movie you’ve known your whole life suddenly wake up. The scale is enormous — every sequin, every swirl of the tornado, every blink from Toto feels larger than life. The costumes sparkle in a way you never see on TV, and Toto gives a performance worthy of his own credit line.
The tornado sequence is pure spectacle, the flying monkeys soar straight at you, and the snowstorm over the poppy field actually feels like it’s drifting into your seat. Even the falling apples have personality — and perfect aim.
If you can’t embrace the future of technology and AI, stay home and watch it on TCM. But if you want to see how a 1939 classic can live in 2025, go. It’s bold, nostalgic, and surprisingly moving. Section 340 was a great view.
They really should sell the apples for anyone who didn’t catch one. 🍎
