I am a Philip Kerr fan, but not particularly a footy fan. That said, I quite enjoyed it, but it kept drifting off the plot with too much football commentary that had little to do with the plot. One of the main characters was also described as an inspirational figure that was much loved, and yet Philip Kerr did a bad job of articulating this. To the point where I thought he was a total prick.
My biggest gripe with this book (and I keep thinking the download had missed some chapters out) is that it just suddenly finished without any explanation behind the murder. Just as you think it’s getting juicy….. it just finishes!! Really bizarre!!
I’ve downloaded the next book, but I hope it’s a lot better.
People have criticised some of the accuracy of this book… it’s a novel FFS! Who cares about whether the stadium would have met planning regs?!!
