I was a little taken aback at the host’s comment about cultural appropriation in connection with learning how to pow wow dance, yet she perms her hair straight like a causian person’s hair. I think that’s a little hypocritical considering now people are trying to say that when a caucasian woman braids her hair it’s cultural appropriation. (Which it is not as Caucasian women have been braiding their hair for a millennia). How about instead of looking at what people do as cultural appropriation how about admiration and education instead? Isn’t that more inclusive? We are all human beings and the beauty of having a vast tapestry of cultures is that of different outlooks and perspectives of the world that we can learn from one another and enjoy as fellow human beings.
