I really loved it. Sure, there's a couple of moments where you can check your emails but, overall I was actually surprised. Surprised?
Yes, because here I was thinking to myself that good movies will never be made again. The golden era of good story telling and likable characters are over?
I was wrong!
Bravo.
Edit. After reading all the one star reviews I understand their grievances with certain scenes and casting choices. Some saying that it is woke identity politics and that the cast should be Nordic and Hiccup should be a young smaller boy. I don't disagree with them in principle. The problem with shoe horned swapped out characters is that they normally choose bad actors. This makes it ten times worse and takes me out of the experience.
In this case, the cast was chosen well in my opinion. They had emotional range although their chemistry was maybe lacking.
Some should understand that even the Nordic race were quite diverse in appearance. Vikings with dark hair, dark eyes, and varying skin tones were common just as it is with my German ancestors with olive skin.
This was a good movie and we need a lot more like this for the love of God.
