I think Disney played it safe with their Star Wars movies to make sure they didn’t destroy a brand before they could recoup their money. I get that. The whole Skywalker saga is rather played out at this point for me so I was glad to see Disney open to more creativity as opposed to ridding the tired money train. Acolyte however, missed the mark badly for me. It’s simply not a well written story that too many times doesn’t even make sense. At times the writing just seemed very ad hoc and rushed. There is very little character development so it’s pretty hard to get into any of the characters. A lot of the acting isn’t great which makes the writing worse.
Episode 7 was a joke, it literally was episode 3 from a different camera angle. Did Disney run out of money? Evidently it did because they used a metal detector to look for the force vergence. It was t the worse thing I ever watched but considering its budget and the endless ways they could have taken the story it was pretty disappointing.
