I guess as a gay man I was expecting more. This series could almost be a Hallmark series if it were about straight people. I found it a little coy and somehow familiar. I wish it didn’t strike me as a little hollow. Love Neil P Harris but I just found the entire first season pedestrian. And for all the comparisons to Sex And The City, I wish this show felt as sophisticated as SATC did. At least SATC city was fun. I feel like all shows with gay characters seems so preoccupied with their gayness. No shows ever make gay characters “gayness” just be incidental. I am gay but my identity is not consumed and lazar focused on my being gay. Gayness on tv has to be such a novelty. I also know many openly gay men who aren’t effeminate and whose world view doesn’t revolve around their gayness. So sick of all the stereotypes.
