I would say it is a massive step up from his previous album, BALLADS 1, which I personally did not like. I'm not that much of a Joji fan, but I found this album to be really good in terms of production and his godly vocals.
The opening track was really immersive because it sucks you into this whole perspective of what the album Nectar is all about. Cool how Bekon is one of the producers on this track because I love a good Bekon album-opening track (BLOOD. and The Sailor). I would say the first half of the album is really slow, but it starts to pick up the pace after you listen to the previous singles (Run, Sanctuary, Gimme Love) and the second half is upbeat and overall fun to listen to.
Solid album, but there is like one forgettable track that I do not like which was Upgrade (sounds like a khai dreams song but ft. Joji) - this track should have been replaced with FTC. Lowkey thought that FTC would be the opening track of the album too or at least in the first half of the album.
UPDATE 10/27/20 - Little over a month since this album has released and I say this is really solid. Some tracks have grown on me, but Upgrade is one of the worst tracks on this album. Afterthought lowkey goes hard with the instrumental and the BENEE feature. Pretty Boy with Lil Yachty is really great, people hating on him but his feature was very fire. I think this album is a solid 8/10 for me, before being a 6/10.
