As an avid fan of the book series I was very excited when Dune was announced, especially since the David Lynch version of the movie is terrible. Dune excels as a movie, the visual effects are top notch and the sound and music are even better. Not to mention an all star cast of amazing actors. Comparing the movie to the book my review would be closer to 4 stars, while the movie doesn't capture all of the details from the book, it certainly captures the essence of the novel perfectly. I would recommend the movie to both fans of the book and total newbies alike, preferably in the theaters. (or whatever the largest screen you can watch it on is). 5/5
