Very entertaining. You get attached to the characters and the story. Good humor, great effects, love the actors and three way they interact with each other. Rocket’s background is engaging and gut wrenching in the best way possible. The music is good as always but I don’t understand how they keep updating it even though they haven’t been back to earth. Love Nebula’s character development throughout the trilogy! What is up with the talking dog? I missed where it comes from and somehow it gets too much air time. That character was completely unnecessary to me. SPOILERS AHEAD I didn’t understand why they brought Gamora back if she wasn’t gonna be part of the Guardians of the Galaxy anymore. There’s a lot of time without Rocket in the actual story, he’s only there in the flashbacks of his background story, which is fine but he makes for a better story when he’s part of it.

Unfortunately it’s not nearly as good as the first one. They kinda suggest at the end of the first movie that the evil guy will come back with the help of some worm? Well this movie has absolutely nothing to do with that. Instead they introduce these 3 sisters that have some super old problem with the earth. The sisters are from 3 different generations of people which they never really explain, you just gotta run with it. There’s a lot of jokes that don’t land, the plot is predictable, the lines seem generic. There are some entertaining moments which is why my score isn’t that terrible but it’s not a good movie. Definitely missed the mark on this one.

Overall it’s good, not super exciting but definitely not bad. Get’s the essence of the original, stays true to it with new material and extended scenes which helps explaining the story better. The cast did a great job in general bringing the characters to life. Specially the voice actors and Melissa McCarthy. The new songs are not at the level of the originals. They cut the scene of the chef and Sebastian. Supposedly because it doesn’t fit the live action format but I still think they could’ve manage to add it to the movie with a little bit of Disney magic. There is one big miss for me (SPOILER ALERT) at Ursula’s cave they omitted the poor unfortunate souls that are prisoners completely. Which end in Triton falling into pieces and then coming back out of nowhere? Weird choice.

This movie is very in the middle for me. Is it bad? No. Is it good? Well, it’s entertaining. It starts very good, it’s engaging and you get invested in learning what’s going on, then you get to the scene that explains everything and it is… let’s just say not the most creative, but they still managed to keep my attention. The end feels rushed in my opinion but I do appreciate the female empowerment moment, I just wish it would’ve been better somehow. The cast did a great job overall. All the costume design was excellent. It is not scary enough to be a Horror/Mystery movie to me, it’s more of a dark Mystery/Sci-Fi/Suspense movie I would say. Anyway, I enjoyed it even if it wasn’t the best movie I’ve ever seen
