It's not often that my expectations are blown out of the water. This is probably the funniest comedy I've seen in years. It's far better than the original. Sure, the concept is tired and overdone, but this is a strong script with well-cast, talented actors. Jamie-Lee shines, as usual! 😍

Fantastic movie! Loved the cast! It was really a feel good movie that's great for the whole family. Even better that it's based on a true story!

I love Barbie. I love Greta Gerwig. This seemed like a no brainer. Boy, was I wrong. I gave this movie 2 stars for its Barbieland production - wonderful sets, costumes, and dance numbers. Great music, too. Amazing cast. I could've watched that for 2 hours and been happy. I mean, that's how they marketed it, right?. But no - instead we get this muddled mess of them traveling to the real world. Enchanted did that well - this movie did not. There was poor characterization, horrible pacing, and a contradictory plot. I appreciate the theme, and while some may think Barbie is the perfect platform for that theme - I don't think it is. At least the way it was executed. Didn't work for me. And when you're looking at your phone halfway through the movie, wishing you'd gone to see Oppenheimer instead, you know you're watching a stinker...

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Yeah, there's some eye roll moments, but I think it's a fresh take on a stale franchise in an overdone genre. In the end, it's a story about sisters... and as any sister knows, these relationships can be complicated! Maybe you have to relate in this way to really enjoy the storytelling here? Great characters, nonetheless. One of the best things about this series is the casting. I think they did a phenomenal job. I also felt two things that really worked were: the pacing - spot on, and the cuts from present to past, and seeing how the gaps were filled in. Totally bingeworthy!
