I’m all for a good disaster story. I sat through the first episode waiting for it to speed up, for there to be SOMETHING worthwhile happen. I sat through the horrible voice overs and over acting. At one point, I had no clue what they were even talking about because I was more focused on watching if their lips lined up with what they were saying…they didn’t. I sat through most of the second episode, and yet still NOTHING happened. How many subplots and characters back stories do we need? Nothing was believable. NOTHING. I fast forwarded through the third and forth episodes just to watch the parts about the volcano and tsunami. I got tired of the family drama. I lost count the number of times they tried to make you believe the daughter died. Who goes to the top of an erupting volcano, removes their helmet, and isn’t bothered by the heat or fiery ash raining down on them? There’s no way you can convince me that pathetic little speed boat handled the ocean water well enough to outrun a wall of water. Like my golly, with how slow that tsunami was it’s a surprise there were any casualties. Oh, and it was super impressive how immediate everyone was able to find out information on their cell phones when the cell towers/data/wifi had been wiped out. You couldn’t make a phone call, but everyone immediately knew within seconds the extent of the damage to the island. There was nothing remotely realistic about this series. I wasted a perfectly good evening for this shite…if I could give negative stars I would. I never leave movie reviews, but this was top notch crap. Like not even worthy of having on for background noise.
