Honestly, it is not that bad. I read the book before the movie (highly recommend you do this) and I would've liked more from the movie because the book was so good. The movie totally missed out on some very important things like Finch and his father's relationship SPOILER FOR BOOK: like when he had to go to the mandatory family dinners. The movie did not show his mom and their relationship at all, nor his other sister Decca or his fathers new family and Finch's supposed biological brother. On Violets side, I would have liked to see the story behind her wearing Elenoars glasses. Also, the movie changed the whole first setting of the book THE BELL TOWER!!! This made it so we couldn't see the whole thing behind Finch being called a "freak" and the newspaper reporting Violet had saved him, the setting change really messed a lot of things up is basically what I'm trying to say. The movie also missed the "puzzle" Finch left for Violet. Lastly, I would have liked to see Finch's epitaph thay Violet made for him at the last page of the book. There are a lot more things like how the closet scene should've been in more depth and other things that I'm probably missing. Overall, without being as nitpicky as I'm being, it's a good movie, especially if you haven't read the book and just want to watch a heartfelt, warming and sorrowful, somber movie.
