This March Madness, be prepared to visit college basketball’s best transfer portal ever as Scott Howard-Cooper and his Time Machine takes us back to the ‘60s and ‘70s and the NCAA’s greatest dynasty in “Kingdom on Fire: Kareem, Wooden, Walton and the Turbulent Days of the UCLA Basketball Dynasty.” It is awesome, as expected. Scott’s thorough journalism and countless interviews takes us back to a time where NIL did not exist, but Sam Gilbert did. To a time in US history where civil rights and government protests carried life-and-death consequences for Americans all over the world. To a time where three men of disparate backgrounds came together to win basketball championships and form lifelong bonds that impacted millions of fans to this very day. I realize the year is young, but “Kingdom on Fire” is the best book I’ve seen in 2024 thus far and it is a book that is perfect for the season at hand. I highly recommend. 👍🏼👍🏼📖🏀👑🔥
