Everyone who has Lyme or who is caring for someone who has /had Lyme disease and now has dementia needs to read this book. It is very well written and most enlightening. My husband. A brilliant man. died after seven years of dementia He was not diagnosed and received no treatment. A lady , named Cathy at Dementia .org helped me the most. She listened and put me in touch with those who could help. I read this book just before he died and it struck a chord. My eyes were opened. It proved invaluable. I knew then the type of dementia he had and what caused it. for both of us had Lyme disease which was never treated. We returned from holiday to home and bed with flu like symptoms and a rash. Yes. we had been bitten by something But what? Just two weeks later we both had pain in R hip and knee. This progressed to pain in all joints and severe arthritis. Our chiropractor suggested that we must both had a strange virus. Not a virus but Lyme disease. I spent five months in bed. Such strange things happened. Terrible pain in all areas. Strange and terrible itching that prevented any nighttime sleep. Brain fog. Waking dreams. Unbearable headaches and so much more. ...I could not walk My Lyme test was "negative," so I received no treatment. My doctor said you do not have Lyme. Husband denied he had it. He was never ill. Rarely attended the GP. Relied on our chiropractor who fixed everything. But was puzzled as to how cold my limbs were. I did what I could with the help of a website and herbal products. My husband died around the same time as Nicole Bell's husband. Though he died suddenly and alone (in the care home that he had been taken to just two weeks previously,) and the police were called, a Postmortem was refused because "he was old and had dementia." A care worker found he had died "sometime between breakfast , which he had refused ,and lunchtime." It haunts me still two years on. So much for twenty for hour care! No doctor attended any time in the two weeks before or at or after death yet one certified the death? The home had given him jabs for flu etc ?? without my permission. I had previously refused flu jabs for him. He had been very unwell after two COVID g Jabs and I said he must have no more.( I had power of attorney.) Had I known one could have a private postmortem I would have done so. A lot can be learned from postmortem. Now I have heart failure... Was it caused by Lyme disease... Lyme carditis.? .. Who knows. Will I get dementia from the Borellia now in my brain? Probably. Could it all have been prevented? Yes. Be very careful when walking in woods . A tiny tick can ruin your life.
